I was very sad to hear of Steve's passing. I coach with Steve at South San and Lee High School in San Antonio. He was a great friend and fellow coach and I really enjoyed the times that I worked with him. My sincere condolences to his family. May God bless his family and may he rest in peace.

I will really miss this very good friend and fellow coach. Will miss our long conversations wading and fishing in Aransas Bay and our Wednesday happy hours at Taco Cabana. We solved a lot of the world's problems, in our minds. Rest in peace "Old German".

I'm so sorry for your loss. It breaks my heart that you all are experiencing the loss of your brother who has gone way too soon. My thoughts, love & prayers go out to a family that has been near and dear to my heart. I will always cherish the fond memories of my childhood neighbors and what I considered my second family.

Dear Kurtz family,
Steve was one of my favorite people. His character was beyond reproach, and he was an all around "good guy". We worked together at South San High School, and then we went to work as administrators at Palo Alto Elementary School. I hated to see him leave San Antonio for Corpus, but I know that taking care of family was a priority for him. I will certainly miss him. You have my deepest sympathy.

RIP to a great man who cared about kids. I loved working w Steve at Lee. He just had a great way about him and we shared some laughs along the way. One of the hardest working guys I’ve known.
